Accounting Supervisor

Tenneco is one of the world’s largest pure-play powertrain companies serving OE markets worldwide with engineered solutions addressing fuel economy, power output, and criteria pollution requirements for gasoline, diesel and electrified powertrains.

Responsible for supervising and performing basic professional accounting activities in a corporate or plant finance organization. Accounting activities performed may include posting, summarizing, reconciling, auditing, ledger maintenance, statement and report preparation, and/or special projects/studies. Instructs or assigns work to other accounting personnel engaged in general accounting/payroll activities.

This job is primarily concerned with establishing and maintaining realistic standard costs, budgets and financial forecasts throughout the plant. This will be accomplished by planning, developing and implementing special studies and projects and recommending system changes that will enable management to obtain maximum control of operations.

Required Skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instructs or assigns work to accounting personnel engaged in general accounting activities
  • Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain records of Asset, Liabilities, Profit & Loss or other activities within the organization.
  • Completes fiscal month end close, generating inventory entries, performing variance analysis as needed. 
  • Reconcile inventory to general ledger.
  • Develops methods in which to improve the tracking and metrics of: efficiency, productivity, and budgetary control to each of the value streams.
  • Prepares various statistical reports, as required by Management to assist with Business decisions and development.
  • Prepares monthly General Ledger Account Reconciliations.
  • Monitor inventory to ensure accuracy by part type. Use and monitor cycle counts.
  • Understand SOX and Financial Controls to help in decision making and monthly testing.
  • Provide support as requested by manager.

Required Experience

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment, Cost Accounting experience a benefit.
  • Specific proficiency levels for each job skill required are defined in the Skills Requirement Checklist for this job title.
  • Excellent computer skills with demonstrated experience in multiple and complex systems (Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Proficiency in using Pivot Tables is required.
  • Experience in SAP or Plex is strongly preferred.
  • Very strong analytical skills, enabling to quickly understand the drivers of a business process (sales, purchasing, supply chain, production.
