 POSITION DETAILS

 Position Summary

The Director, Accounting & SEC Reporting consults with stakeholders in all operating divisions and at various levels throughout the Company regarding US GAAP, financial reporting, SEC filing and reporting requirements, emerging accounting issues, interpretation of complex and technical accounting guidance, and implementation of newly adopted accounting guidance. This role is responsible for coordination of all elements needed to complete tasks assigned including leveraging influential leadership and critical thinking skills to obtain information needed from key contributors in order to meet project and filing deadlines. The position operates with independence and is expected to complete the objectives of broad assignments with minimal supervision and oversight.

 Principal Activities

Responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (i.e., 10-Q, 10-K, etc.) as well as financial statements and tables to be used in quarterly earnings releases and corresponding investor materials/presentations in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and SEC rules. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements balance sheet, income statements, cash flows and supporting materials
  • Ensuring compliance with all SEC and FASB rules and regulations
  • Partner with the Business Units on Accounting and Financial Reporting matters
  • Drafting assigned sections of MD&A in quarterly and annual SEC filings and corresponding summary of operating results in earnings releases and directing and reviewing the preparation of the remainder of these filings.
  • Managing the preparation and review of all other quarterly and annual SEC disclosures and supporting schedules
  • Reviewing any additional materials and/or materials provided to investors.
  • Lead efforts to analyze, research and conclude on new and proposed accounting, reporting and disclosure standards issued by the SEC and FASB; prepare memorandums regarding the Company’s position and impact on the Company, manage the implementation of new accounting standards through the coordination of internal resources and external advisors and debrief senior management and external auditors, as requested
  • Lead and manage the appropriate application of resources, including technology and digital tools, used in the financial reporting process to ensure an efficient, timely and controlled reporting process, while operating within the budgetary constraints of the department; includes negotiations and contracting with critical vendors. Maintains the external financial reporting system and assist with the maintenance of other accounting-related systems, and coordinate with the development, design and implementation of consistent global accounting and finance requirements throughout CIRCOR International with a focus on internal controls, process efficiency and compliance with applicable US GAAP and SEC reporting and technical accounting requirements
  • Provide consultation on technical accounting matters to the operating divisions, ensuring that all technical issues are addressed, resolved and properly documented in a timely manner in accordance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations. Train, mentor and develop global finance team members in their understanding and application of these matters
  • Work with internal partners on initiatives to improve the organization including (but not limited to) leading teams to develop new and innovative processes, procedures and system enhancements
  • Maintain knowledge of global business operations in order to understand impact of business events on financial performance, and external reporting requirements; leverage a professional network of contacts to keep up to speed on best practices for financial reporting
  • Coordinate financial reporting component of the external audit with a focus on maximizing efficiency without compromising integrity of audit result
  • Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive US GAAP and SEC Financial Reporting experience
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal skills
  • SOX and internal controls experience
  • Strong analytical, organization, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Extensive experience with Excel, Word and accounting software required

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant accounting/ financial reporting experience required; including extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting in multi-entity/multi-country environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Master’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance, and CPA, active license status required
