Location: Canton, MA (Actual title will vary based on qualification) Universal Sequencing Technology, a leading NGS technology development company, headquartered in Greater Boston with a branch in San Diego, is looking for a talented individual with mechanical design experience to join its growing team as a Sr.

Engineer, focusing on the design and development of automated instruments to be commercialized as part of the company’s disruptive TELL-Seq and single cell technologies as well as other advanced DNA sequencing technologies that enable many previously unachievable or difficult-to-achieve applications.

The successful candidate must have 5+ years of design experience with a focus on automated fluid handling equipment/devices and be able to show a relevant portfolio of accomplishments.

Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, conceptualize, and create detailed engineering designs for new products.Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designsPerform engineering calculations or computational analyses to support design workGenerate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstrationCreate and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer softwareCollaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractorsTroubleshoot and improve existing products.Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design processEnsure project timeline is met and project stays within budget Required Skills and BackgroundMinimum education requirement: BS in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.5+ years of experience working in engineering.

Life science is a plus.Prior success in developing equipment/devices involving fluid handling.Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problemsMechanical CAD design software (SolidWorks).Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning abilityProven ability to multitaskAbility to communicate effectively and clearlyMust be self-motivated and a great team worker PI137017390
