The Chelsea Soldiers’ Home is seeking a dedicated and licensed professional for the role of Clinical Social Worker D (CSW).The Clinical Social Worker provides support to veterans on a Residential Unit by performing diagnostic evaluations of the psychosocial assessment of veterans. This is done by conducting intake interviews; by investigating veterans’ histories through contact with families and other community agencies and by evaluating clients’ overall fitness to determine the need for services, treatment or therapy. The Clinician works toward a smooth transition back into community based living by assisting each veteran in accessing and obtaining housing and other reintegration-based supports.Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):* Collaborate with area Veteran Programs such as the Boston Vet Center, the Recovery Home Collaborative, the Phoenix House Program, Volunteers of American, and the Pine Street Inn, for example.* Plan and monitor veteran treatment by evaluating treatment modalities and using evidenced based practice.* Provide case management, supportive counseling, and group sessions to assist veterans in managing their mental health issues, substance use disorders, anger management, and other compulsive behaviors. In addition, veterans are provided with services both in-house and through external partner agencies to help in their adjustment to civilian living.* May also supervise students in Masters’ Degree Graduate programs and student interns. May chair or collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.* Make appropriate referrals for treatment with mental health services, housing needs, employment services and/or education and training programs to maximize their functioning and re-introduction into the community.* Review and sign off on all clinical notes to maintain compliance with the Veterans’ Administration.* Provide crisis intervention services by evaluating and making appropriate referrals for those in crisis. This includes issues stemming from suicidal tendencies, drug abuse, alcoholism, self-injury, injury to others, etc.* Prepare and/or maintain clinical case reports, narrative reports, statistical reports, and other records to facilitate exchange of information with own staff or with staff of other human service agencies.* Facilitate the exchange of information by providing in-service training to staff and interns in the appropriate implementation of veterans’ plans; attend or conduct meetings; attend training sessions to maintain licensure, attends seminars or workshops to ensure high quality mental health services based on the most current available information.* Coordinate and/or ensure the appropriate delivery of services by providing input to policies and procedures.Required Qualification:* Possess certification as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work.About the Soldiers’ Home – Chelsea:The Soldiers’ Home is a Joint Commission accredited inpatient veterans’ facility owned and operated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is an independent state agency that organizationally reports to the Department of Veterans Services. The Soldiers’ Home addresses the needs and provides support to approximately 350 veterans’ 24hours per day, 7 days per week. Medical, nursing and clinical supports are given to those patients residing in the Long Term Care (LTC) facility. The residential units support veterans who are living independently but receive services and programs ranging from psychosocial and social work, receive transitional assistance, education, work, and outreach programs. Based on assignment to second-level supervisory positions, at least one year of experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.SUBSTITUTIONS:* A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required nonsupervisory experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.* No substitution will be permitted for the required supervisory experience. One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.REQUIRED EDUCATION:A Master’s or higher degree in social work is required.LICENSES:* Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required.* Based on assignment, travel may be required.
