Faculty Part-time Applied Biomedical Sciences/Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)

General Summary of Position:

The Department of Biomedical & Nutritional Sciences, part of the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, is seeking part-time Instructors to teach laboratory and/or lecture courses in the undergraduate Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program. There are a variety of potential teaching opportunities in both lecture and laboratory courses, such as Basic Clinical Microbiology & Pathology, Clinical Laboratory Theory, Analytical Instrumentation Laboratory, Clinical Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Molecular Diagnostics, Clinical Immunohematology (Blood Banking), Medical Bacteriology, and Medical Mycology & Parasitology. Selected candidates will become an integral part of the program, working in collaboration with full-time MLS Program faculty and program directors. Teaching opportunities will vary by semester, with opportunities beginning in the spring of 2022.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in a relevant science field for laboratory courses, and a graduate degree (Doctoral preferred, but Masters with special skills and proper experience will be considered) for lecture courses, all with demonstrated and suitable years-long training and work experience in an MLS environment. Candidates having both a graduate degree and MLS certification will be given priority.

  • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups

  • Candidates with qualifications to teach in more than one area or program will be given priority

  • Successful candidates should also have a strong desire to teach a diverse population of students, and previous teaching experience at the university/college level is highly desirable
