The Medical Assistant is particularly important in that it is typically the first personal interaction patients will have with our client. For this reason, it is imperative that this individual is friendly, knowledgeable and able to make patients feel at ease while ensuring adherence to social distancing protocol. The Medical Assistant’s primarily responsibility is the patient intake process, ensuring it is both a pleasant and easy process for the patient and that no errors are made in the process. One day you may work in the “intake” area doing data entry and others you may be working to instruct patients on self-administered COVID19 testing.
Responsibilities:
Welcome patients at testing site location
Assist with check-in activities including but not limited to: ensuring consent forms are signed, enter patient information onto documents and/or electronic record, print manifest, write patient information onto label, attach sticker label to the specimen collection vial, provide bag containing specimen vial to patient and direct patient to interview station, and disinfecting clipboards/pens between each patient use
Provide patient with clear instructions for proceeding to designated testing station and guide them if necessary
May help with instructions of self-administered COVID19 testing
Set up and tear down each day
Review and communicate pooled testing results and coordinate follow up testing as needed
Must wear proper PPE and ensure safety standards are always met
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare setting in a customer-facing role
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Must have a reliable method of transportation to/from job location
Must have flexibility with regards to scheduling, availability to work overtime, nights, weekends and holidays
Candidates who are Certified Medical Assistants are preferred, but this is not a requirement
