Receiving general directionfrom the Ambulatory Nurse Director, incumbent is responsible for coordinatingthe activities of all nursing and clinical support staff for their unit.Patient CareManagement: Provides and maintainsa climate in which effective patient focused care is assured throughout thepatient’s ambulatory visit.Supervises,coordinates and assesses the activities of all nursing and clinical supportstaff to facilitate the delivery of quality patient care.

Monitors andmaintains the quality of patient care.Ensures thatstaffing needs of the division are met.

Evaluates staffing needs and models,screens and refers qualified applicants for vacant positions.

Plans orientationand training for new nursing and clinical support staff.

Plans coverageschedule for vacations and unscheduled absences.Provides consultto Ambulatory Nurse Director and physicians regarding the resolution ofperformance problems that may develop with the nursing and clinical supportstaff; participates in the utilization of the Hospital’s Corrective ActionPolicy as appropriate.

Provides staff with counsel and direction to correctperformance, attendance and communication issues.Working with theAmbulatory Nurse Director, coordinates staff meetings for the purpose ofdiscussing problems, communicating new policies and promoting efficiency andnursing productivity.May coordinatedevelopment and integration of remote satellite locations.Creates andmaintains policies and procedures for new medications and therapies.Participates inspecial projects or research studies as appropriate.SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Effectiveinterpersonal and communication skills.Ability torecognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.Flexibility andcompassion when dealing with a variety of patients.Knowledge ofuniversal precautions.QualificationsBSN required; Master’spreferred.Current Massachusetts licensureas a registered nurse.
