We are currently hiring a Data Scientist to contribute to the design and implementation of advanced analytics and innovative machine learning algorithms that guide treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes.

These algorithms will play a central role in the pursuit of Abiomed’s mission of recovering hearts and saving lives.

If this sounds like you, please read on:ResponsibilitiesResponsible for end-to-end development of analytics queries and machine learning algorithmsDesign new statistical and physiological features for time-series dataEvaluate algorithm performance in offline (in silico) and live (in vitro, in vivo) environmentsCollaborate with software teams to implement algorithms in cloud or on embedded hardwareMaintain concise descriptions of algorithm design specifications and performance evaluationsPerform variability analyses for model optimizationQuantitatively and qualitatively evaluate new ML/AI techniques and integrate into algorithm designCommunicate algorithm designs and performance results to cross-functional stakeholdersAttend scientific conferences and act as a data science ambassador for the organizationRequired Education & ExperienceAdvanced Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or directly-related discipline required; PhD strongly preferred5 years Data Science experience involving the development of time-series and real-time data analysisAdvanced analytics (e.G.

descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive) andData visualizationMachine learning techniques (e.G.

classification, regression, clustering, sequence generation, forecasting, reinforcement learning, Markov modeling, or Bayesian statistics)Python proficiency.Experience w/one or more development package (Sklearn, Keras/Tensorflow, PyTorch, or Theano)Expertise with advanced SQL queries (integrating multiple disparate data sources)Distributed computing tools (e.G., Hadoop or Spark)Willingness to travel 5-10% of the time (meet customers to gather user needs and assess product performance, attend scientific conferences)Preferred: APIs & cloud computing platforms experience (e.G., Microsoft Azure or AWS)Preferred: Embedded software experience (C/C++ or equivalent)Preferred: Medical devices and / or electronic health record data experienceGeneral RequirementsSuperb communication and collaboration skills – comfortable operating within and outside a core team and presenting progress to company leadershipDemonstrated excellence of analytical thinking in one or more technical fieldsSelf-motivated and good team playerWilling to learn and explore new technologiesAbiomed is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a diverse workforce.
