Software Engineer III – Analytics

In addition, SICK’s focus on Sensor Intelligence allows us to make Industry 4.0, or the Industrial Internet of Things, a reality for their customers.POSITION SUMMARY:Under general supervision, will specify, analyze, design and support products for SICK Work with a multi-national team to design new product offerings and enhance performance of existing production lines.RESPONSIBILITIES:* Technical design, implementation, deployment and support of our SICK Analytics and Visualization Platform suite of products* Partner with Business Analysts/Product Managers to review and implement business requirements* Partner with Project Managers, Technical and QA Leads on estimates, statuses, identify issues and raise risks.* Partner with the Architecture team to ensure track work is aligned with the strategic direction of the enterprise* Provide guidance around best practices on Java EE technologies.* Adhere to architectural standards and detailed development standards.* Review designs, source code, and research options and create recommendations to ensure a successful implementation* Perform development and unit testing and advocate for best practices* Provide consulting on both selection and utilization of development tools* Contribute to project teams involving cross-functional participants.* Work independently on large assigned projects.* Work with engineering peers and Manager, Software Development to ensure the right course of action is being taken, and the proper procedures are being followed for each assigned project* Remain current of new technologies. Stay ahead of the competition by lending creative talent to the design and formulation of new product lines and enhancements.* Guide other engineers through process steps to complete projects.* Train new employees in the Engineering group and ensure they have the proper knowledge of SICK processes and procedures.QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:* Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field OR equivalent experience in related field.* 7+ years-professional experience in Software Development using Java technologies, Databases and Web Services* Experience with Java, J2EE, Spring, ORM Frameworks (JPA, Hibernate, etc.), JMS and Junit* Development experience with RDBMS (MySQL or PostgreSQL), Database schema design and optimization* Strong knowledge and experience implementing multi-threaded applications* Experience with Application Servers such as Tomcat or JBOSS and build automation using Maven and ANT* Working knowledge in consuming Web Services – RESTful, Web Sockets, etc.Other Qualifications:* Exposure to NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)* Experience with JavaScript technologies – ReactJS or Angular, D3 or equivalent is a plus* Experience with Version Control Systems such as Subversion, GitLab/ GitHub, etc.* Strong understanding of Design Patterns, JSON, XML/XSLT* Strong understanding of data structures and implementing algorithms* Strong analytical, design, debugging, and decision-making skills.* Good understanding of security concerns/ threats and implementing best security practices* Knowledge of Agile Software Development (Scrum, Kanban)* Able to lead multidiscipline projects; provide project schedules, define working packages, cost estimates, and report status to project leaders and management.* Able to balance workload to keep multiple projects progressing to completion.* Able to thoroughly understand technical issues and provide solutions to resolve issues.* Demonstrated oral and written communication skills* Strong motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment supporting a business-critical production environment* Computer proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet applications.* Able and willing to work alternative schedules including weekend, and on-call hours as needed.* Travel requirements (domestic and international): < 10 %* Legally permitted to work in the United States.* Able to work in a general office environment.CORE COMPETENCIES:Ethics and Integrity Personal Growth and Learning, Customer Focus, Personal Accountable, Building Effective RelationshipsIf you thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment that offers challenges and the opportunity for growth, we are the place for you!
