Chief MRI Technologist

This is a Full-time position in Springfield, MA posted June 7, 2021.

As a Chief MRI Technologist at our Springfield center you will lead, oversee and manage a group of Technologists.

While maintaining positive work relationships with operational staff, radiologists and other referring physicians, you’ll operate a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner to produce images of the patient’s body for diagnostic purposes.

Taking a patient centered approach, you will provide leadership and technical support to MRI services, assuring that services are provided within professional standards and with excellent customer service.

Each patient comes to our centers looking for answers.

You will guide patients through this sometimes difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process.

You’ll also remain self-motivated to increase your level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

The hours for this role are Monday-Friday 7 AM-3 PM with an occasional weekend.
Provides leadership and management to technical services, assures that services are provided within professional standards.

Operates appropriate scanners to produce images of the patient’s body for diagnostic purposes.

Maintains positive work relationships with radiologists and other physicians referring to the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(65%) Patient Imaging
Performs routine and advanced imaging procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination Explains and prepares patients for imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately scanned and providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure Adjusts scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers and other associates and peers Converses with doctors, nurses, patients and family members as required Follows physicians’ orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect themselves, their patients, and coworkers Accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS) Maintains an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements Maintains equipment in good working order; cleans and disinfects equipment after each use Ensures compliance with all HIPAA guidelines Produces diagnostic images in assigned area and performs quality control tasks as assigned Remains self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve Promotes and motivates good customer relations with patients, physicians, visitors and other company personnel
(15-20%) Staff Management
Ensures comprehensive knowledge of company policies, procedures and protocols for all technologists Assists in staff planning and hiring process along with management Manages overall staffing levels for adequate modality coverage at all times Monitors and approves timecards Oversees and assists with training of new associates, providing resource and technical expertise Schedules routine meetings with Technical Operations Manager Attends and participates in monthly Chief Tech meeting Initiates and participates in staff performance evaluations and development of associates including performance improvement plans, and/or disciplinary actions Leads regular staff meetings and employee one-on-ones Participates in HR training sessions
(10-15%) Operations
Ensures equipment is in working order and coordinates with management and field service engineering on any issues Ensures an orderly and clean work area in all modalities to promote good safety habits for patients and team Coordinates patient relations, ensuring a high quality of patient service is delivered Ensures compliance with state regulations and internal policies regarding documentation and tracking of safety and licensing-related items Orders appropriate supplies as necessary following company guidelines on inventory control Maintains an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades, as appropriate

Required
ARRT registered technologist, current and in good standing Graduate of the American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography Licensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification Training and experience sufficient to competently perform radiographic procedures independently Advanced modality certification

Bilingual Previous supervisory experience
