DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
Lewis 2 is a 22 bed Geri Psych/Behavioral Health Unit for patient population 55+. We provide a vibrant activities program along with special group sessions and programming to provide support. A special group room houses musical instruments, art supplies and other items to engage individual patient strengths and interests. Patients are cared for by an entire team consisting of: Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Case Managers, Milieu Therapists and Nursing Assistants.
West 2is a 22 bed acute care for Adult Psych/Behavioral Health patients ages 19-64 on a behavioral health unit. The unit is dedicated to providing exceptional care to people in our community with mental health and substance abuse illness. We established a philosophy of caring for patients who need mental health services with kindness, respect and dignity, while we provide them with a supportive environment and treatment to help them heal. Our program is dedicated to depression, bipolar disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, substance abuse and psychotic diagnoses. Our primary objective: we work to help our patients get better so they can live better lives.
The role of a Milieu Therapist will assist with ADL’S lead or co-lead groups, perform safety checks, 1:1 meetings with patients, and will accurately chart patients B/P, TPR & weight. Notifies RN of any changes in vital signs. Accurately measures and documents patient’s intake and output. Uses appropriate methods of urine and stool collection and labeling of these specimens. Assists patient’s following through with ADL’s (bathing, laundry, organizing room), maintaining nutritional and hydration needs, and assisting & monitoring elimination needs and other task as assigned by charge RN.
This position may float to cover any psychiatric patient in Everett Hospital – Medical, ICU or Emergency Departments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma Required; B.A., B.S. or M.A. preferred or equivalent years human service experience
AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider
Human Services experience preferred
One year of previous experience as a nursing assistant
Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
Completion of an approved certified nursing assistant training program.
