Conservation Agent

The Town of Monson is seeking a part-time Conservation Agent to provide support, coordination, and professional management for the Conservation Commission in carrying out its mandate and its mission to protect the community’s natural resources including its biodiversity, unique natural areas, wetlands, and other water resources. This position will require a combination of days and nights as well as in office and in the field work hours. Successful candidates will have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field and a minimum of two years’ experience in wetlands protection, land conservation, environmental management or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, statutes and regulations applicable to the jurisdiction of conservation Commission, relevant areas of pure and applied wetlands science, vernal pools and the certification process, geology and hydrology, erosion control techniques, retention and detention ponds.
