Learning & Development Specialist


This is a Full-time position in Marlborough, MA posted April 29, 2021.

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVESThe Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing company-wide training and development programs and processes that will enable leaders across the organization to more effectively manage their teams and operations.

The L Specialist, as an integral member of the HR team, will work closely with the leadership team to assess business needs and skill gaps, design and implement programs to develop key capabilities at every level of the organization, and evaluate results.

Through collaboration with internal partners and external vendors, and the implementation of a Learning Management System, the L Specialist will provide employees with training to improve skills and knowledge on several topics including employee onboarding, performance management, and leadership skills.You are a born teacher and take great enjoyment from seeing others learn, grow and progress successfully.SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPeople: Build and foster a learning and development mind-set and approach with key managers, directors, senior leadership and C-suite executives.

Liaise with the in-plant (Armor) trainers and subject matter experts to help them facilitate on-the-floor manufacturing training and development tools.

Help the HR team in teaching all levels of management how to take full responsibility for their direct reports’ performance, growth and career development.

Act as an internal subject matter expert and provide coaching and support to managers.

Review, select and supervise external training partners.

Understand the psyche relative to remote working and design/implement programs and/or tools to facilitate highly effective remote working conditions for both employees and their supervisors/managers.

Employ pertinent assessment tools with job applicants or current in-house personnel as needed.Process: In liaison with the HR Director and key stakeholders across the organization, conduct needs analyses, and identify skill gaps and business priorities in order to determine appropriate training solutions.

Manage all aspects of training lifecycle, to include: training need assessments; development of new training programs; marketing and communications of programs; participant feedback; evaluations; and tracking analysis and reporting.

Determine appropriate blend of learning methodologies, including in-person, workshops and web-based training required to create and deliver best-in-class learning programs adapted to the needs of office and manufacturing employees across Canada, the U.S.

and the U.K.

Develop and implement programs to increase retention and engagement of employees and facilitate succession planning (leadership training, mentorship, management skills, etc.) Provide input into corporate policies, succession planning and job specific skills.

Continuously benchmark L best practices and emerging trends to make recommendations on course design, development, tools and technologies.

Leverage grants and subsidies offered by Provincial, State and Federal Governments.

Performance: Develop measurable programs to ensure policies and processes are applied consistently across the organization, and tools (ERP, Performance Management software) are used correctly.

Manage departmental training budget and make recommendations for future budgetary needs.

Seek cost efficiency through the use of automation and tools, such as a Learning Management System.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Education, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience managing L projects and content design, and facilitating organizational change, in a corporate and multi-site environment.

Strong knowledge of learning and development methods, trends, tools.

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Excellent project management and training budget management skills.

Ability to build rapport with employees and vendors.

Excellent organization, priority-setting and time management skills.

Solid team player, coach and mentor.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Strong negotiation and influencing capabilities.

Ability to facilitate small and large training sessions (live and remotely).

Excellent customer service skills required.

Must have integrity and trust with the highest level of confidentiality.
