Package Handler – Northborough (21088)

SCHEDULE:Varying shifts and hours available.minimum 4 hour long shiftsJob SummaryThe primary responsibility of a Package Handler is to ensure the accurate and efficient movement of packages within the sortation hub as directed while complying with all company safety standards.Functions & Responsibilities* Unload trucks as directed and ensure that all packages are safely transferred to appropriate conveyor belt(s) for sorting.* Accurately utilize scanners to track parcel information.* Follow appropriate sorting protocol to ensure the accurate transfer of all packages along the conveyer belt and within the warehouse.* Accurately load parcels into garlord boxes and on pallets.* Using required equipment, move gaylord boxes and pallets within the warehouse.* Accurately store packages and pallets for loading onto appropriate delivery trucks.* Load packages, pallets and gaylord boxes onto trucks as directed.* Perform all task within established deadlines.* Safely operate mechanical equipment to move packages and pallets within the warehouse.* Maintain required material equipment handling certification as required by OSHA.* Proactively engage and comply with all company and OSHA safety guidelines at all times.* Attend safety meetings as required and notify management immediately of any unsafe working conditions.* Perform daily maintenance and charging of all mechanical equipment.* Work efficiently and in partnership with colleagues to ensure client satisfaction and company success.* Actively support a clean, safe, and hazard free warehouse and parking lot at all times, including general housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, unpacking, and trash cleanup.* May assist in orientation of new hire package handlers.* Other tasks as assigned.QualificationsCompetenciesAction OrientedListeningFunctional / Technical SkillsCustomer FocusPerseveranceIntegrity and TrustPatienceKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesTechnical and Functional* Competence in the use and maintenance of material handling equipment, and the ability to be certified in the use of this equipment.* Able to accurately utilize scanner as instructed.* Ability to use and learn required PCF applications* Ability to communicate information professionally and effectively, so that it is understood by supervisors, peers, and other business partners.* Ability to meet and/or exceed established customer service objectives.Required Physical Abilities* Ability to routinely lift heavy items up to 50 lbs. each.* Ability to move around the facility, both inside and outside.* Ability to stand throughout shift, walk, bend and kneel as needed.* Ability to perform repetitive tasks + loading and unloading trucks.* Ablity to use material handling equipment, and to be certified in the use of this equipment.Working Environment* Ability to meet deadlines and attendance standards.* Ability to work in warehouse type environment with exposure to hot and cold temperature fluctuations.* Ability to work within safety guidelines.* Ability to work collaboratively with others.Experience, Education and Certifications RequiredExperience Required* Prior experience preferred, not required.Required Educational Level* High school diploma.Other Certification:* Material handling equipment certification a plus.
