Our location in Westford, MA currently has an opportunity for a Procurement Team Lead.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Responsible for the planning, procurement, on time delivery, and inventory level of assigned commodities and spend categories including material, supplies, equipment and services.

This position will report to Senior Supply Chain Manager and will lead all Purchasing activities for the manufacturing site under minimal direction.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a team of buyers procuring direct and indirect materials for the Westford manufacturing site Create and execute supplier sourcing strategies collaborating with supplier quality, engineering, corporate procurement and planning teams Manage supplier base to meet site procurement goals of on-time deliveries, inventory to target, purchase price variance and days payable outstanding.

Negotiate supply agreements with strategic suppliers in conjunction with corporate procurement Resolve supplier issues including expediting deliveries, working with supplier management teams and cross functional teams within Abbott to avoid any stockout Implement tools to analyze demand, safety stocks, supply and inventory Set safety stock strategies considering demand/supply variation, EOQ as inputs Lead monthly site procurement review and participate in monthly business reviews for the site Responsible for ensuring all purchases are properly authorized Perform Purchasing review and approval of engineering changes Drive supplier related cost reduction initiatives Promote and maintain positive working relationship among staff and suppliers Responsible for maintaining inventory investment and product availability within specified range for assigned commodities.

Responsible for purchased product from the time a purchase order is issued until the product is received into stock, and available for use.

Responsible for maintaining PPV at or below 0.

 

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

Responsible for managing a team of buyers and creating a positive work culture in alignment with Abbott values

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING:
Bachelors Degree Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or another related field.  Masters preferred.

Minimum 8-10 years of Purchasing/Planning experience, preferably in a medical device manufacturing environment.     Knowledge of the principles, methods and procedures employed in the acquisition of material, supplies, finished goods, equipment and services.

Knowledge of order management principles, methods and procedures.

Direct supplier relationship experience.

Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning, Master Production Scheduling, and Production Scheduling processes and systems.

Knowledge of inventory planning, control and analysis processes and techniques.

Well developed written, oral and interpersonal skills.

Proficient with use of various software applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access, etc
