Position Description

LSH is seeking someone experienced in outpatient registration, day-to-day management, supervision, customer service, liaison etc.

Detailed Statement of Duties:

1.

Supervise patient registration department staff, provide orientation and training for all new staff on computer registration systems and other aspects of the job.

2.

Conducts ongoing training sessions for department staff as needed

3.

Communicates with patients and staff in a harmonious, professional and courteous manner

4.

Assigns workload duties to ensure efficient operations, arranges staff schedules (including coverage during vacation or due to illness), conducts performance evaluations and recommends disciplinary actions as required.

5.

Complies statistical data for Ambulatory Care Center daily and monthly reports and generates regularly scheduled computer reports.

6.

Produces outpatient statistical.

7.

Maintains liaison with outside departments in hospital, resolve issues to ensure that good customer service is provided by the Admitting /Patient Registration Department.

8.

Maintains liaison with outside facilities; promotes positive patient relations; resolves operational issues/problems; and, maintains liaison with Ambulatory Care Center providers in terms of clinic scheduling.

9.

Functions as a team leader to foster a professional environment for patients, visitors and staff in which customer service is the number one priority.

Ensure that patients’ rights and confidentiality are respected at all times and a professional atmosphere is maintained throughout the department

10.

Function as a team leader and member and assists other members of the team in ensuring that daily data entry and other work related duties are completed within specified time frames.

11.

Works closely with Financial counselor to receive updates of changes in insurance, and any other updates regarding patient admissions/registrations

12.

Functions as back-up person in the absence of a team member

13.

Organize and conducts regularly scheduled team meetings

14.

Conducts inters for new staff.

15.

Works closely with Director of Patients Registration to develop and monitor departmental improvement projects.

16.

Ensures staff compliance with departmental philosophy and goals

17.

Maintains contract with patient accounts to ensure accurate and efficient operation of department.

18.

Ensures that all prior authorizations for both outpatients and inpatients are obtained.

19.

Ensures that daily data entry work is forwarded to patient accounts

20.

Updates departmental policy and procedure, performance improvement and continuing education manuals

21.

Updates the departmental training manual

22.

Identifies and conducts departmental performance improvement projects

23.

Attends monthly department head meetings and improving Organizational Performance Meetings (IOP)

24.

Complies with and maintains knowledge of Hospital environmental and Safety Regulations

25.

Act as departmental representative on hospital-wide cross function teams

26.

Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

*Expected work week is 37.5 hours (8 hrs.

include 30 minutes unpaid break)

Skills Required

Required

n Knowledge of the principles and practice of human resource management including behavioral techniques, planning, organizational development etc.

n Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes and/or symbols

n Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures etc.

n Ability to prepare and use complex charts, graphs and tables

n Ability to gather information by examining records and documents and by questioning individuals.

n Ability to prepare general reports

n Ability to work independently

n Knowledge of clerk’s office practice, including office record keeping

n Ability to communicate effectively both orally and writing

n Ability to adjust to changing situations to meet emergency or changing program or production requirement.
