Sector Coordinator – Technology, Media, and Telecom

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Global Sector Coordinator/Analyst within BCG’s TMT (PA), your primary focus will be to support the strategic, IP and affiliation agenda for the Technology sector including:
  • Project managing plans and milestones that drive growth for the Technology sector
  • Driving internal affiliation and communication activities for the Technology sector community
  • Planning and executing events, including engaging with our Alumni community.
The Technology Sector is the largest TMT Sector and has experienced double-digit growth over the last several years. We serve clients across the globe and across every major subsector (Semis, End-user devices, Equipment, Software, Consumer apps, IT Services, Growth tech, etc.), and work in close collaboration with other parts of BCG in areas such as Healthcare, Financial Services and Mobility.

Your role will be fast-paced and will include projects across three key focus areas:

Product management/coordination:
Working with our Tech Leadership and Management team to support our sub-sector and product leaders to develop and deliver strategic plans including: goal definition and setting, budget allocation and tracking, and supporting leadership reviews / alignment.

Specifically, you will conduct significant data analysis in Excel and related tools and generate clear strategic insights across performance (e.g. revenue and other data), planning and investments (e.g. Campaigns and Tier 1) to inform sector strategies. You will also support ad-hoc strategic analysis (e.g. working with market data) and budget definition. You will help identify new opportunities for expansion.

Team building / Affiliation:
You will work on projects that support growing and developing the broader Technology Sector team, including:

  • Interfacing with our People team to ensure accurate Sector affiliation and leverage accurate Sector affiliation data to grow, drive and engage our cohorts
  • Coordinating our Tech Advisory Network (TAN), a group of our most senior experts ensuring visibility and engagement of this senior team
  • Organizing internal sector regional affiliation events and supporting our wider PA global and regional meetings, including concept definition, content/agenda shaping, external speaker liaison and on-the-ground delivery. You will evaluate event success and lessons and codify best practices
  • Supporting external events / round tables across key topic areas (E.g. Center for Disruptive Tech). You will also help to run Sector-specific alumni efforts, aligning closely with our People team coordinating events, outreach and maintaining alumni data.
You will also work with other PA’s and BCG marketing teams to ensure ongoing exchange on best practice examples and innovation opportunities.

Communications:
You will own and shape our Sector communications including our regular newsletter and other platforms sector platforms such as Slack and the sector’s web presence on bcg.com.

You will develop and apply a working knowledge for our IP, publications, marketing and social media activities, teaming with the wider TMT Marketing team on our agenda.

Cadence:
You will help keep the wider Sector on track, working with other Tech team members and leaders – overseeing performance against key milestones – leveraging tools such as Trello, dashboards etc to provide clear sense of status and areas for intervention.

YOU’RE GOOD AT

  • Maintaining a clear overview of Sector goals, milestones and progress, including budget development and tracking
  • Effective event management, supporting the planning, preparation and execution of conferences, events and, if required, partnerships with flair and discipline
  • Developing and executing relevant Sector communications
  • Developing clear updates to BCG ‘s internal stakeholders and leadership

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • 2-4 years relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to think analytically, adopting out-of-the-box thinking
  • Professional, service oriented, proactive and flexible attitude
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to analyze data in Excel
  • Demonstrated execution/ organizational/ communication skills
  • Demonstrated independence and autonomy in internal/external interactions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to execute tasks that require independent judgment, based on processes/ policies
  • Ability to perform under pressure and demonstrate presence and maturity even in stressful situations
  • Ability to coordinate day-to-day work; apply working knowledge of primary function
  • Proficiency in Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and other tools (e.g. Trello)

YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Tech Sector Leadership team but also collaborate with other PA Management team members and other functions across BCG.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Practice Area Management & Operations team members keep BCG’s industry and functional practice areas operating responsively and efficiently. As a member of this team, you will contribute directly to the success of our business through a number of roles, including content development, process management, marketing, meeting and conference management, and internal/external communications.
