SummaryNavigation Games is seeking a full-time, experienced Executive Director to take our nonprofit organization to the next level.

We have developed an experiential outdoor curriculum built over several years with the collaboration of teachers, and delivered it to thousands of children.

With your leadership, we will be able to build our program delivery capacity, achieve financial sustainability, and ensure that our work responds to community needs.About Navigation GamesNavigation Games is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Cambridge MA.

We bring map navigation education and experiences to children, and aim to establish orienteering as part of every schools curriculum.

Through the sport of orienteering, children develop fundamental movement skills, learn to read maps to travel from point to point, play fun games, build team and communication skills, and spend time outside.

We emphasize access for all economic levels.

Our educators are US SafeSport trained.

We support the goals and methodology of Project Play and the American Development Model.Our programs focus on working with school districts to implement experiential outdoor education.

We also design and deliver out-of-school-time classes, help start middle and high school teams, and host events open to the public.Position and DutiesThe Executive Director will have responsibility for all aspects of running a nonprofit organization.

The Executive Directors duties include:Manage day-to-day operations of Navigation Games.Mentor and develop employees.

Oversee volunteer recruitment and retention.

Communicate the vision, mission and core values of Navigation Games to staff.

Manage staff, including hiring, dismissal, work assignments, communications, payroll, and performance reviews.Ensure excellent program delivery and manage client relationships.

Guide staff to streamline and improve work processes.Work with an outside bookkeeper; ensure that financial accounting and reporting is timely and accurate.Ensure compliance with the law and good corporate and nonprofit practices.Generate revenueOutreach to new clients, with a focus on bringing innovative outdoor experiential education to school districts.Negotiate program fees and contracts.Meet with potential funders; write grants both independently and in partnership with potential clients.Build a set of individual donors and oversee fundraising.Work with the Board of Directors to advance Navigation Games missionPrepare budgets and financial and program reports for the Board.Plan Board meetings in collaboration with the President.Provide advice and counsel to the Board of Directors.

Contribute to discussions about prioritization, strategy and mission.Work with the President to increase diversity and effectiveness of the Board.Present a positive face to the communityDesign and implement a marketing strategy for recruitment of clients, teachers, collaborating organizations and donors.

Provide current and useful information to the public about Navigation Games, including via the website and social media.Act as a positive force in the community consistent with the vision, mission and core values of Navigation Games.RequirementsExperience managing a nonprofit.Proven ability to bring in program income and raise funds for a mission-driven organization.Experience working with children.Experience with most or all of the duties described above.Interest in advancing Navigation Games mission and passion for improving education.Great people skills.Good organizational skills.Orienteering-specific knowledge is not required.
