We will retain focus on severe genetic disease (SGD) and will launch our oncology business (“Oncology Newco”) as a new entity, with the completed transition expected by the end of 2021.

nn nn Lab Manager – Cellular Process Development (Contract) nn nn This role is for a 12-month contract position.

nn nn Cellular Process Development nn nn bluebird bio’s Cellular Process Development team is a group of birds in Pharmaceutical Sciences designing processes to manufacture reprogrammed T cells and stem cells for our patients.

We develop the gene therapy and gene editing manufacturing platforms and chaperone them from pre-clinical to commercial manufacturing phases in collaboration with other teams across Pharm Sci and Research.

nn nnThe cellular process development (CPD) teams are responsible for developing cellular drug product processes and introducing new technologies for stem cell and T-cell therapies.

The focus of this position is to maintain and continuously improve upon CPD lab operations infrastructure, including: equipment maintenance, database management, scheduling, inventory and ordering.

We are looking for a motivated individual who will gain familiarity with our current processes and lead collaborative efforts to build sustainable and efficient laboratory management systems.nn nn Activities include: nn Routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, inventory, and ordering for lab consumables and reagents.

Work closely with CPD team members to identify opportunities for improving lab systems, brainstorm solutions, and aid in implementation.

Host regular meetings to communicate lab and equipment updates to CPD teams.

Act as a central point of contact for lab management needs.

Coordinate with Facilities group for lab space planning, and to schedule calibrations and corrective and preventative maintenance for lab equipment.

Lead role in 5S initiatives for organization of lab space and enabling of consistent lab practices within and across teams.

Maintain accurate and reliable record keeping including meeting minutes, database management, and all other pertinent documentation.

Opportunity to support technical work related to CAR T-cell manufacturing.

nn Preferred Qualifications: nn AS or BS biology, engineering, or related discipline with 0-2+ years of experience.

Independently motivated, detail-oriented, and good problem-solving ability.

Excellent communication skills – ability to coordinate within and across teams, incorporate viewpoints from multiple individuals.

Excellent organizational skills – sufficient to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Strong verbal and written skills; able to handle confidential information and material appropriately.

Working knowledge of standard Office or other database management software sufficient to record and organize data.

Basic understanding of cell-based methods such as tissue culture, cell biology, immunoassays, and general laboratory techniques.

Ability to work in a team environment, meet deadlines, prioritize and balance work from multiple individuals.
