Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.Job Description:What you will do:The Business Development Senior Consultant (“BDSC”) supports 15+ national consultant and broker relationships across Sun Life’s Group and Stop Loss businesses. These consultant/broker relationships are responsible for over $630M ($163M of group, $467M of Stop Loss in 2019) of annual sales. The BDSC provides strategic tracking, management of initiatives, and Sun Life brand awareness for each of the relationships. This role also serves as a subject matter expert of these strategic partner firms for Sun Life’s distribution channel.The associate creates internal and external communications/planning documents, hosts internal/external calls to provide deeper understanding of our partners, and maintains the hierarchy of firm mergers/acquisitions. Additionally, the BDSC tracks industry trends within the marketplace and maintains an understanding of how our partners are looking to address these trends as clients wants and needs drive enhanced coverage/benefits from carrier solutions. This position could also be involved in specific client management processes and/or escalations from our strategic partner relationships.Responsibilities include:* Establishing and maintaining deep relationships with Sun Life’s strategic partnerships through monthly planning meetings, webinars and other marketing/training opportunities.* Engaging strategic partnerships in conversations around sales, persistency, firm penetration, market assessment/development, compensation, and key business metrics.* Effectively participating in negotiations for strategic partner marketing agreements and other compensation agreements that align with Sun Life goals.* Seeking key business development opportunities with strategic partners that will help to separate Sun Life from other competitors while deepening relationships.* Identifying and targeting key strategic partner firm opportunities through data analysis and working with strategic partners and the Sun Life sales force to put a plan in place to penetrate these offices.* Educating and training the Sun Life sales force on our strategic partnership relationships, key business development opportunities and marketing agreements for each partnership.* Drive effective communication to internal leadership, distribution partners, and key stakeholders as well as Strategic Partner representatives.* Manage and execute firm growth strategies and action items to drive expansion of relationship and brand awareness.* Create and update monthly updates to Distribution Partnership newsletters, firm specific one pagers, and informational wiki pages.What you will need to succeed:* Broad and deep expertise in designing, implementing, and managing growth strategies and programs.* Experience in group benefits and insurance products* Ability to independently shape, produce, and deliver ideas, presentations, and documents tailored to Executive level audiences.* Ability to independently define how to approach work, engage and influence stakeholders including navigating in a matrix organization, manage through ambiguity, address challenges and meet timelines to deliver the work of the function. Experience working in agile environments is an asset.* Possesses a growth mindset with willingness to challenge normal processes, try new things, innovates and finds new solutions that solve business problems or create business opportunities.* Drive actions based on facts, leverages data to generate new insights and opportunities, clearly defines and measures business outcomes to identify course corrections and measure success.
